Rose Quartz Carved Angel
Rose quartz is among the oldest talismans of love known to humankind, with carved beads recovered from Mesopotamia dating to around 7000 BCE and later prized by Egyptian and Roman cultures. Geologically it forms deep within coarse granitic pegmatites, where slow-cooling silica-rich fluids crystallize into massive pink quartz, its rosy tint traced to microscopic mineral fibers threaded through the stone. Major deposits are worked today in South Africa, Brazil, Madagascar, India, Japan, and the United States.
Rose quartz is a pink variety of macrocrystalline quartz, silicon dioxide (SiO2), crystallizing in the trigonal system. It almost always occurs as massive, anhedral material rather than well-formed points. Its soft pink color is generally attributed to trace titanium, iron, or manganese together with microscopic pink fibrous borosilicate inclusions. With a Mohs hardness of 7 and no cleavage, it is durable, though its color can pale under prolonged ultraviolet exposure.
In Greek myth, Eros, the god of desire, is said to have brought rose quartz to earth so its pink glow might stir love and tenderness among mortals., A Roman legend holds that the stone was stained pink by the mingled blood of Aphrodite and her wounded love Adonis, marking it as a symbol of love strong enough to outlast death., and Egyptians and Romans carved rose quartz into facial talismans, trusting it to smooth the complexion and hold back the signs of aging.
I open my heart to love in all its forms, releasing old hurt with gentleness and trusting that I am worthy of the care I give so freely to others.
