  • Origin Story

Fine Moonstone was first prized as adularia, a variety of orthoclase feldspar named after Mount Adular in the Swiss Alps, one of the earliest known sources of gem-quality material. Its signature glow, called adularescence, is created by light scattering between microscopic alternating layers of orthoclase and albite feldspar within the stone.

  • Scientific Info

Moonstone is a potassium-sodium aluminium silicate of the feldspar group, typically the adularia variety of orthoclase. Its billowing blue-to-white sheen, known as adularescence or schiller, results from the scattering of light across thin, layered feldspar intergrowths. It crystallises in the monoclinic system, shows perfect cleavage, and rates 6 to 6.5 on the Mohs scale.

  • Ancient Myths

Ancient Romans believed Moonstone was born from solidified rays of the moon and held it sacred to the lunar goddess Diana., In Hindu tradition, Moonstone is a sacred dream stone said to be made of frozen moonlight, bringing sweet dreams and good fortune to those who wear it., and Travelers of antiquity carried Moonstone as a talisman for safe passage on night journeys and across water, earning it the name the Traveler's Stone.

  • Affirmation

I release the need to control every outcome and trust the quiet wisdom of my intuition. Like the moon, I move through phases with grace, meeting each new beginning calm, receptive, and whole.
