About Yellow Quartz

Yellow Quartz is the trade name for quartz that has taken on a yellow color, whether from natural color centers, traces of iron, or fine iron-oxide particles. Mineralogically it is the same species as citrine; the market simply reserves the name citrine for the deeper, transparent material and calls the paler, milkier stones Yellow Quartz. Much of what is sold as Yellow Quartz today is colorless, smoky, or amethyst quartz that has been heated or irradiated to reach its color, and Sage Spirits notes that plainly rather than pretending otherwise. In crystal healing tradition it is a solar plexus stone: a stone of personal will, confidence, and a clear, unhurried mind.
