About White Copal

White Copal is a hardened aromatic tree resin, largely from Bursera and Protium species of the torchwood family, prized as the palest and most refined of the more than 300 copal varieties Scott Cunningham describes worldwide. He writes that copal is added to love and purification incenses, especially in Mexico, and white copal in particular is traditionally reserved for the most sacred offerings. Raw copal is traditionally burned on charcoal; on a dipped smudging stick, the sage branch or Palo Santo carries the resin to the flame instead.

How to use

Store your sticks dry and away from heat, since the resin can soften
Light the tip, let the flame catch, then blow it out and let it smoulder over a fireproof dish
Ventilate the room while it burns, and never leave it unattended
Press the ember out in the dish when you are finished
