Amazonite Mozambique is a variety of microcline feldspar mined from the granite pegmatites of Mozambique's Nampula and Zambezia provinces, a region internationally recognized for the tourmaline, morganite, and beryl pulled from the same pegmatite veins. Amazonite itself has been worked and traded since antiquity, but Mozambican material is a comparatively recent addition to the international market, distinguished by color that runs noticeably deeper and more saturated than the paler stones long associated with Brazil, Russia, or the American Southwest.
