Dragon Stone Jasper is a green-and-red stone named for its likeness to dragon scales and spilled blood. Although it is sold under the jasper name, it is a metamorphic rock called an epidosite: its green comes from epidote and its red from piemontite, two related minerals that crystallized together under heat and pressure. Most of the material on the market comes from South Africa, and each tumbled piece carries its own pattern of color.
