About Desert Jasper

Desert Jasper belongs to the jasper family long regarded as the supreme nurturer, and it wears that reputation in an unusually wide palette for a single stone. First turned up in 2006 by prospectors searching Madagascar's northwestern coast for Ocean Jasper, it instead revealed a true jasper colored like the arid ground around it. Because it shares both origin and mineralogy with the broader Polychrome Jasper family, it is also sold under that name, though its desert-toned bands and coastal Madagascar sourcing give it a character of its own.
